While attending art school, I was tasked with creating a still life piece with only oil paint. Witch's Brew is my first attempt at a full oil painting without the use of any other media, including pencil.
Each brush stroke was a challenge as I learned how to correct mistakes without an eraser, but by manipulating the paint in my favor. This piece is my first Alla Prima painting. This piece allowed me to fall in love with oil paint and inspired many works after it's completion.
