My First Gallery Show! (and What It Means to Me)

I am so incredibly grateful for the amazing opportunity to be featured at the Kurt Youngblood Gallery this weekend! While I have showcased my work at other venues for short term events, but this is the first time a gallery has reached out to me to have my work for an exhibition, as a featured artist no less! 

The Fiesta show on April 12, 2025 was such a lovely experience. I got to meet other local artists and admire their amazing work. The Kurt Youngblood Gallery allowed me to reach a wider audience of potential collectors who admired the boldness of my colorful pieces. I was invited to choose which pieces I'd like to bring for the opening and I decided on variety of pieces that showcased the diversity in my work.

The Kurt Youngblood Team discovered my work on instagram and invited me to be one of their featured artists. At first I assumed it was some sort of scam, as many artists are used to seeing online. But as I discussed the event further, I realized I was just reach a huge milestone I had only dreamed of years prior.

At the start of my journey, I received plenty of gallery scams inviting me to hang my work for a small fee of $3,000 which was disheartening to say the least. As I spent the last few years focusing on my craft, I found my artistic voice which is reflected through my cohesive pieces.

It so surreal to think back to my time in my boyfriend's garage when I was experimenting with color. I was comparing my work to that of other artists I admired and was overwhelmed with self doubt. My imposter syndrome of the past would have never believed that a legitimate gallery would see the value in my pieces. I can't thank the Kurt Youngblood Gallery enough for believing in me and allowing me the opportunity to showcase my work. It means the world to me!
